Your handwriting font in Notability

Notability's text tool lists the fonts installed on your device. Install your SnapFont font once and it is there, same as any system font.

On iPad or iPhone

  1. Make your font in SnapFont (print the sheet, write it, take one photo).
  2. Tap Install. SnapFont builds a font profile; save it to Files and open it.
  3. Settings, General, VPN and Device Management, tap the profile, Install.
  4. In Notability, add a text box, open the font picker, and select your font.

On Mac

  1. Export the TTF from SnapFont to your Mac.
  2. Install it with Font Book.
  3. Reopen Notability and choose the font in the text style options.

Good to know

  • Typed text only. Handwritten ink in Notability is not converted.
  • Notes synced to a device without the font show a fallback font until you install it there too.

Questions people ask

Can Notability convert my handwriting to my own font?
Notability converts handwriting to text in the default font. To type in your own handwriting, install a SnapFont font and choose it for the text box.
Does the font sync between my iPad and iPhone?
The note syncs; the font does not. Install the profile on each device, which takes about a minute.
